High Flying Cardinals or Bye, Bye Birdies?

By Beandipdodg

It’s Halftime and While We have a moment, let’s relax, repeat and review the Cardinal Rules!! We have Won three (3) games, so….

#1 Have a Good Time!! Well, We have had a lot more fun this season and our future appears to be bright, so right on and read on…

#2 Be Prepared….For Anything!!! Are you kidding?? How are you feeling Matt? No QB Controversy here! Good Luck, Kurt!!!

#3 Keep Your Cards Close to the Nest!!!! Offensive line must keep opponents off of Kurt Warner or it will be Hey, Hey for TRattay!

#4 Never Too Many W’s!! Win, Whisenhunt, Warner!!! Get It?? Three (3) W’s!!!! When, Who, Where and hoW Will this end??

#5 Stick With It!! OK, did you get the last one?? Three (3) W’s in the first part, followed by Five (5) W’s!!! You With me, Wimpy?

#6 Stuck With It, Stuck Without It! If you are still with me, that is Eight (8) W’s. Though a great improvement, out of the playoffs!!

#7 Ain’t That A Shame!! Cardinals still beat themselves!! Big effort, but fundamentals will determine chances for postseason play!!

So, looking ahead, the remaining Nine (9) games include Five (5) Home games: Detroit, San Francisco, St. Louis, Cleveland and Atlanta! The Four (4) Road games: Tampa Bay; New Orleans; Cincinnati and Seattle. Actually, each is Winnable, When you look at it that Way! What do you think?? While Nine (9) W’s Would be Way too many to Wish for, What do think?? Seven (7)? That is What it Will take!!! Dallas and Green Bay Will Win more than Ten (10) games. Carolina and Washington already own the tie-breaker. So, the games against Detroit and New Orleans will be crucial for the same reason. OK, What about Winning the Division? Well, that may be the only path!! Seattle is a Road game, also. So you can see that Winning Seven (7) Will be a challenge!! Will a 9-7 record produce postseason play??? Probably Not!! Who knows? Yeah, maybe making the playoffs Would be a dream. So, never too many W’s, Coach W! Go Cardinals!!

Who Will Beat the Cardinals Next?

On November 4th the Cardinals will be playing the Buccaneers. My question is who will beat the Cardinals, the Buccaneers or the Cardinals? The Cardinals at this point could be 7-0. They have the defense, but the offense is still making calls and plays out of the Three Stooges playbook. Here’s how to play Three Stooge’s Style:

  • Multiple penalties
  • Not getting the play off before the time clock runs out
  • Expecting Warner to be able to make a 5 step drop and get rid of the ball (other than the way he is getting rid of the ball—fumbling it!)

I’ve written this before and I’ll write it again. The offense needs to run, run, run, until it absolutely has to throw. It’s okay to punt the ball and give the defense good field position; the defense has been playing great. Warner needs to stop forcing the ball, it’s better to throw it away than to have just one more turnover. Consider giving Rattay another chance. Get the play called before the clock runs out. Please, Coach Whisenhunt, manage the game. When Whisenhunt can’t get the play in to Warner, Warner should just get all his players lined up and call a play. In conclusion, they have two weeks to figure it out. I’ll be in San Diego—hopefully not burning up over the game, or just burning up, period.

Cardinal Rule #7: Ain’t That A Shame

By Beandipdodg

You’re the one to blame, Coach! OK, Not the Same Old Cardinals, BUT……When Will We Win the Penalty War??? Oh, Please, not another Illegal Formation/Motion or Delay of Game, EVER!! These are totally inexcusable penalties that still plague the team!! What is going on, Coach W and G?? When will a Cardinal team be organized to the point of playing with the ball without STUPID penalties?

K. I. S. S. Please – Keep It Simple, Silly!!! Run, Run, Run. Then, Punt and give the defense a chance to improve Field Position. What a novel idea!! Play for Field Position!! Then, when the defense and special teams do their job and get the ball back in GREAT FIELD POSITION, like in the Redskin debacle, RUN, RUN, RUN!!! NO TURNOVERS!!! The game cannot be won in the FIRST QUARTER!!

Nearly every game this year has followed the same script: Early Cardinal Turnover, Opponent scores points and the Cardinals play from behind for the rest of the game. No, they did not quit, but prior teams did not quit, either. Remember the Minnesota game years ago?? A victory and the Vikings were out of the playoffs! They did not quit last year vs. Da’ Bears!! Turnovers and Stupid Penalties were the primary ingredients to another Loss, just like last week. So, excuse us, Coach W, but, IT is the Same Old Cardinals!! Please Fix!!!!

Cardinal Rule #6: Stuck With It, Stuck Without It!!!

By Beandipdodg

Hey Hey for Tim Rattay!! No Hasselback Controversy here, Tim’s on the Team!! Winning streak? First Place in the division? Home W?? Stick with the No-Fuddle offense, or else!! Kudos, again, to the defense for stiffening and stuffing the Mighty Vinny and his Panther Pets after the Initial Aerial of the Game was El Losto Fumble. They are really taking Points Allowed after the Initial Mandatory Muff seriously!

Wishing you well, ML, and you too, KW, but this time, we must review two (2) CARDINAL PLAYS! The euphoria of the prior week’s W erased the ugly sight of #51 coming at Matt, the quarterback of the future. Alas, he has thrown his last pass!! So now, it is Kurt, attempting to be the quarterback when the opposing Monster Panther Pet is allowed to maul him and tear his ligaments to smitherines!! Go Fuddle!!!

Need a new Winning recipe? OK, the Hot Wings, Beandip on the Dashboard, Bags of Chips and Suds in the Icy Cooler lost for the 1st time! As for the Nest, LS and guest sat next to Mombo Jerry and Momba Cath and had a blast, as the KBooM Krowd on our left was En Fuego!! ThompsonTwinTom replaced Seattle Bob and knew Rule 1 – Just Have Fun!! So, get up early, Sunday morning and GO CARDINALS!!

A Miraculous Win!

The Cardinals got a win over the Rams, thanks to the referees. Last Sunday’s game had many questionable calls, but they were all in favor of the Cardinals. That is the miracle. Edgerrin James’s fumble on the one-yard line was the most mystifying. James’s knee and elbows were down when the ball came loose in the end zone. A Rams player recovered and was lying on the ground in the end zone when Reggie Wells ripped the ball out of his hand. When the refs somehow turned this into a touchdown for the Cardinals, I knew the Cardinals had the game won.

This week against the Carolina Panthers the Cardinals will need to plan on the more traditional form of scoring touchdowns; the players will need to cross the goal line while simultaneously holding the ball. My advice to Coach Whisenhunt this week is to run the ball and keep running the ball down their throats until the Panthers stop the run. Don’t start throwing the ball until you have to. David Carr will be starting this week. Whisenhunt should blitz him on every play and put eight guys in the box to stop the run, and dare them to throw to beat us. Hey Coach, come out aggressive and try to put some points on the board first and the Panthers with Carr will have to come from behind. Don’t underestimate Carolina’s defense; they are good, and Warner must get rid of the ball if no-one is open. Don’t force it, Kurt.

Tim Rattay was a good pick up. Let’s just hope Warner can last three or four weeks so Rattay can learn the offense and get his timing down. To quote Beandipdog: “Hurray for Tim Rattay, and hopefully he will not play, for if he does, it will be Warner’s last play.” Go Cards. If they move to a 4 and 2 record, I will be speechless. And that too, would be a miracle.

Cardinal Rule #5: Stick With It!!!

by Beandipdodg

Hey Hey! A Road W! Winning streak!! First Place in the division!! Coach W sticks With the No-Fuddle offense and is now stuck with it! Actually, the title to this article was going to be: Giveaway the Ball, Giveaway the Game, but The Big Wred Birds stuck it to the StLambs! Though not many fans were on hand! OK, it was an ugly W, but What about Matt Leinart?? Does it still hurt?? NoW, What about Kurt?

Wishing you well, ML, but it is here noted that the defense allowed only a FG after the Initial Aerial of the Game was El Paso Interceptoed! Kudos to them as they are improving on the Points Allowed After Turnover statistics. A TD was scored after the IAGEPI in the SF game… The Four Point improvement on that play alone provided the margin of victory!! So, We Will not revieW any potential Cardinal plays!!!!!

HoWever, Never Too Many W’s and let’s look ahead to the Panthers!! We are expecting to meet the Spots in the Lots with Hot Wings and Beandip on the Dashboard, Bags of Chips and Suds in the Icy Cooler!! This is a winning combination!! So, if it ain’t broke, stick With it!! Then, to the Nest, with LS and guest, next to Mombo Jerry and Momba Cath!! Tune in again as Seattle Bob is out!! GO CARDINALS!!!

A Scintillating Win!!

Confession: I almost had my tickets to last week’s Steelers game sold to a Steelers fan at an inflated price. Fortunately for me, Beandipdodg persuaded me not to sell the tickets. He was right; in the eighteen years of Cardinals season ticket ownership, I have never been to a better game. The Cardinals played the entire game with high intensity and hard hitting you normally don’t see. This was a total team effort by the offense, the defense and the special teams. Even the 12th man showed up—the energy in the crowd was electric and eventually caused three false starts by the Steelers.

Two of the best plays we have seen in a long time occurred on Sunday. First of all, Adrian Wilson turned around what could have been a typical Cardinal Play when a high snap to Kurt Warner led to a Steelers recovery on their four-yard-line. But Adrian Wilson’s timely interception in the end zone saved the day. Also, Steve Breaston’s punt return for a touchdown was a moment not soon forgotten. The Cardinals have not had a punt return for a touchdown since 1993. Unbelievable.

Optimism is now at an all time high for Cardinals fans. Whisenhunt is on the right track and we hope to see the Cardinals ready to play the Rams this week. Let’s just hope Leinart realizes that we don’t want the team to “ride or die” with him; Cardinals fans want a win, period. Matt, after you win your first championship, then you can start shooting off your mouth. Until then, let the Whiz do his thing. It seems to be working.

Cardinal Rule #4: Never Too Many W’s!!!

By Beandipdodg

Wow, another W!! Coach W sticks With the No-Fuddle offense and the Big Wred Birds stick it to the Squeelers and all their Wealthy fans!! Once again, the effort was intense on both sides of the ball. Even Seattle Bob mused that the Cardinals have never played this Well – Ever!!! We got a punt return for a touchdown, both quarterbacks engineered drives into the end zone and the D nullified a potential Cardinal Play!! The game was exciting and the stadium was alive. If you sold your tickets, you should be ashamed! Especially, to Wealthy Squeeler Fans!!

Sure, you made some money. But, what are you going to say to the loyal Cardinal fans in your nest that did not sell their tickets? Hmmm?? We had an offer, but refused after trying to answer that question. Good thing. Momba Cath returned with Mombo Jerry and LS had a guest, his sister, SiS! Even the nest to our left was present! Talk about embarrassing, can you imagine the conversations at the next home game??

So, What’s next? How about a road Win? The Big Red Machine is on the move to St. Louis, Louis!! Beandip, Chips and Wings continue to be a lucky combination and I gotta’ believe they will be available, with Suds in the icy cooler! Like the dance, stick with what got you here! So, tune in and, this week, 1) Have a Good Time; 2) Be Prepared for Anything, 3) Keep Our Cards Close to the Nest and 4) Get another W!!
